Reuben Hudson is thrilled to announce the release of the latest single from Reuben Hudson; Drag available everywhere on August 20th, 2021.
Drag is a psychedelic, alternative punk pop song written, performed, produced, and recorded, by Reuben Hudson. The single will be on streaming platforms August 20th.
Following the single Baby Bedside (released in May), this continues Auckland/Tāmaki Makaurau, New Zealand artist Reuben Hudson’s return following kidney transplant surgery in 2020. Drag is unique in its confronting lyrical themes of self-criticism and depression. Made amidst some of Reuben’s lower points in health, he approaches these emotions playfully and universally – with word play throughout echoing an influence of hip-hop and rap.
“Boy you’re such a drag, can’t believe you’d have your tea like that.”
“I just like it black; I’ve been told I got a knack for that.”
Reuben (Nothing Much to Do, Lovely Little Losers, Lapis, Club Ruby, Music Student at the University of Auckland) played and recorded the whole song in his bedroom before enlisting the help of friends and fellow students Jade Lewis (vocals) and Jin Song (mixing and mastering).
Reuben is working on a studio EP currently, with singles scheduled for release in the final quarter of 2021.
