Starting her musical journey in Hamilton 12 years ago, Verity is becoming a well known performer and social media star. The now 21 year old Auckland based singer has been working in the studio and is about to drop her debut single.
Songwriting and performing came naturally to Verity who wrote her first song at 6 years old, won her first talent show at 9 years old and at age 10, started busking at Frankton Market in Hamilton. She used her earnings to buy her first guitar and PA system so she could keep performing, which led to her becoming a regular act at the Special Children's Christmas Party in Waikato & Auckland and Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park.
In 2019, Verity represented NZ at the World Championships of Performing Arts in LA, winning numerous medals, a scholarship to study in New York and a music production deal.
Verity started to gain traction on her Tik Tok profile by showcasing her singing ability which now has over half a million followers and millions of views.
Verity is thrilled to be releasing her debut single “Butterfly Effect” produced by award winning artist Kings. The idea that something as insignificant as a butterfly flapping its wings, when given enough time and space, could eventually cause a tornado is the inspiration. “In Butterfly Effect, I use that metaphor to explain how my ex boyfriend had done certain things in our relationship that led me to want to “get revenge”… I know, not something to be proud of, but toxic relationships can make people crazy, and when you’re in a toxic situation, emotions can take over, control and consume you.”
The sassy, raw, pop ballad playfully features slang like “G.A.F.” (Give A F*ck) and resolves in the bridge with the redeeming phrase “hurt people, hurt people”. Butterfly Effect is an honest and revealing song that will resonate with anyone who has been hurt in a romantic relationship.
