Mojo Crow, known for their powerful live shows and eclectic blend of rock, alt-country, blues and reggae is releasing their latest EP Imposter on November 8, 2024 —a raw, high-energy return to their rock roots that delves into themes of identity, inspiration, and the sometimes-dark forces that inevitably shape us.
The five-track EP features gritty guitar riffs, raw vocal intensity, and driving rhythms that pull no punches. The title track, Imposter, which debuted as a single in August is already making waves as an anthem of courage and resilience. “This album is about shedding the masks we wear and facing down the shadows within.”
Track Highlights
1. Imposter – A fierce, upbeat rock anthem taunting imposter syndrome that verges on punk, reminiscent of The Strokes or The Hives.
2. Rain Down – A fast-paced rhythmic interplay between guitars, bass and drums launches into space amongst playful lead guitar lines that echo retro sci-fi video games, and a call for inspiration from the heavens.
3. Passenger – A haunting ride down dark desert highways that channels the thrill and danger of raw V8 muscle and a journey with an inescapable, powerful alter ego.
4. In My Blood – Retro blues rock with a wave to The Doors on keys, eerie harmonies and a roaring blues rock guitar solo.
5. Lady Luck – Genre-fusing reggae guitars with melodic bass lines that blend into an anthemic rock chorus that sings of escape, luck and chance.
About the band
Mojo Crow is an Auckland based band hatched by brothers Chris and Nick Jones. Mojo Crow’s high-energy and crowd-stomping live shows blend an eclectic mix of rock, alt-country, blues, and reggae genres. Their previous single "West Coast" is a reggae-inspired track released about surfing on Auckland's west coast beaches that closely followed the release of "The Badlands", an album weaving themes of old western films, outlaws, and gold mining with their unique alt-country/blues/rock sound.
