Ōtautahi-based label Winegum Records is delighted to announce the signing of indie-folk savant Tom Lark and release of brand new single Radio Blaster, breaking a seven year long radio silence that has seen him incubating his own brand of humming, cognitive production and songwriting. Also borne of this hiatus is a debut full-length album titled Brave Star, a fruitful collection of work reminiscent of the refined aesthetics of Andy Shauf or Kurt Vile.
The first single from Lark’s debut is named Radio Blaster. The track sketches around rhythmic horn lines, brushy guitar work and subtle electronica with an ever-loving groove tying it all together. Lyrically, Lark reinforces affirmation through the power of tuneful reflection on the sincerities of life.
Brave Star (recorded at Okie Dokie Studio on Auckland’s Karangahape Road) is due for release on June 9th, and is available now for pre-order on cassette and LP from Bandcamp.
To accompany Radio Blaster’s release, Tom Lark makes a live appearance at Tāmaki Makaurau’s irreverent Wine Cellar on April 15th, featuring Belladonna on support.
Winegum Records is an Ōtautahi-based record label and music management outfit headed by Chris Close, an earnest music-lover and drummer aficionado. Already existing on the label’s roster is the emotive Mousey and up-and-comer Mini Miller alongside recent tours from Pickle Darling, Pretty Stooked and Sam Bambery.
Radio Blaster is out now via Winegum Records. Brave Star is due for release on June 9th, and is available for cassette and vinyl pre-orders via BandCamp.
