Following the successful release of Ankle Deep, Christabel’s next offering, Jealous, showcases a new side to the artist as she steps into character. The fierce, catchy and powerful tune was created prior to her travels to Los Angeles, in collaboration with writer Ash Wallace (Foley) and producer/writer Joseph Faris.
“This song, unlike most of mine, is not based on personal experience this time!” says Christabel.
“Jealous was carved from observing toxic relationships between friends and people I knew. The kind of relationship that really isn't ever going to work, the kicking, screaming, on and off again, absolute chalk and cheese kind of relationship. This was my chance to put myself in their shoes, become a whole new character, and then do the same on-screen.”
Alongside the single is a 60’s inspired music video, of which the narrative follows an unfaithful husband, played by actor Kon Podprugin (who recently starred as a Russian prisoner in the latest season of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things) and a revengeful wife, played by Christabel. Filmed in downtown Los Angeles, with a young, talented group of friends, Christabel’s team included director Mason Cade Packer, and her partner Luca Turner (producer & DOP).
Made with the support of NZ On Air, Jealous is out Friday 12th August on all streaming platforms.
