LEE MARTIN 'LOST GIRL'

Lee Martin is a New Zealand based singer/songwriter who has been impacting the music scene with her thought-provoking lyrics and storytelling writing style.

Martin is an old soul with a versatility in her song-writing which allows her to cross genres as she glides easily between folk, rock, blues and country, all the while maintaining her unique sound.

Her new single, “Lost Girl” was produced by Chris Ward and engineered by Thom O’Connor, and is also the title of her recently released EP that was introduced to a sold-out show in Christchurch.

“Lost Girl" is one those songs with a strong lyrical focus.  I wrote this about the human tendency to self-sabotage. It’s about how we are continuously searching for meaning in and around ourselves and test the boundaries. The second verse is my favourite as it paints a real picture it goes ‘Lost boy, broke off the arm of your favourite toy, it was all that you had brought you so much joy…lost boy’. He has no one to blame but himself but you still feel sorry for him as I think everyone can relate on some level”

The music video was filmed by the incredibly talented Caleb Waiari at the amazing Institution bar in Christchurch CBD. The focus of the video is based on the lyrics and “The Institution” offered the perfect backdrop for this story to be told.
