The New Zealand Music Commission is pleased to announce the Folk Alliance International 2020 Delegate Grant.
The Folk Alliance International Conference is the world’s largest gathering of the Folk music industry and community (crossing a diverse array of genres including Appalachian, Americana, Blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Francophone, Global Roots, Hip Hop, Indigenous, Latin, Jazz, Old Time, Singer-Songwriter, Spoken Word, Traditional, and Zydeco, and every imaginable fusion).
The annual February conference (now in its 32nd year) draws 2,900 artists and industry (agents, managers, publishers, labels, festival/venue presenters, promoters, media) dedicated to folk music. Delegates who attended the 2019 conference represented 48 countries including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Haiti, Iceland, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Navajo Nation U.S., Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Russian Federation, Scotland, Senegal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Democratic Republic of Congo, The Netherlands, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, and Wales.
Previous New Zealand artists include Mel Parsons, Marlon Williams, Anika Moa, Delaney Davidson, Graeme James, Māmā Mihirangi & The Māreikura, and Chris Dent and Pascal Roggen of Albi & The Wolves.
Also taking place during the week of Folk Alliance 2020 is the 2nd annual The International Indigenous Music Summit. The summit is a gathering of Indigenous artists, knowledge keepers, and community builders, along with key invited allies to discuss the most important issues facing the Indigenous music community.

Folk Alliance International 2020 Delegate Grants
Capped at $2,500 the grant covers 50% of return economy airfares from New Zealand to New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, delegate registration to the conference, private showcasing fees, accommodation (up to 5 nights) and per diems (up to 5 days).
The purpose of this grant is to facilitate solo musicians who are considering officially showcasing at FAI in the future or have showcased in the past and are wanting to reconnect, strengthen and expand their networks. They will be expected to attend seminars, network with the industry and book and perform at the ‘non-official’ Private Showcases scheduled every night during the duration of the conference.
