Dominic Blaazer and the Maximum Philharmonic Orchestra
- with very special guest, Jan Hellriegel -
Saturday May 5th, the Pumphouse Theatre, Takapuna
It's official, critics are falling in love with Dominic Blaazer’s “The Lights of Te Atatu.” It's an album you need to hear and a gig you need to see.
Fresh from a successful launch at Roundhead Studios, Blaazer brings his full orchestral band to the historic Pumphouse with a supporting set from the legendary Jan Hellriegel.
A former member of Greg Fleming and The Trains, The Chills, The Peter Styuvesant Hitlist, Smoothy, and Don McGlashan and SJD's bands - among many others.
Nick Bollinger says, "The songs ... they sound like classics. It’s fearless and perfect.”
The Sampler (RNZ), March 5th 2018
And from Graham Reid, “He makes those lights of Te Atatu seem magical and resonant ... These are fine songs.” Elsewhere.co.nz
The album also made #1 on the NZ Album Heatseekers chart for the week commencing March 5th 2018.
But enough press, the last words go to the audience:
"Outstanding concert, Dom. The National were superb and yours was every bit as good." MS
"Tight, melodic and poetic tunes with a great little orchestra working in sync." TLS
