Over 100 local participants, from emerging grassroots to established artists, primary and secondary schools, community groups and leaders from the Māngere and Ōtāhuhu area have contributed to the making of a combined Community music project, facilitated and produced by award winning sound and music producer Anonymouz aka Matthew Faiumu Salapu (Noma Sio-Salapu).
Anonymouz, who was born in raised in Māngere, moved to Ōtāhuhu with his family 3 years ago, and says: “This project is completely shaped, conceptualised, written and performed by the many vibrant layers of our local community, sharing their varied stories through the medium of music. However, it also doubles as a great opportunity to not only entertain people, but also inform, educate and inspire them with recollections of interesting local histories and legends as articulated by our local community leaders.”
The EP (mini album) and accompanying film, will be blessed and previewed at a free family event to be held in the Courtyard (next to the Māngere Library) of the Māngere Town Centre on Friday 30 September, 6.00pm – 8.00pm. Wet weather venue will be inside the Māngere Town Centre (entry by the Library). All details of the projects online release will be announced on the 30 September.
