Journalist, Host of RNZ Music Pocket Edition
Maggie Tweedie grew up at Lake Tutira, a small village in rural Hawkes Bay. She has a Bachelor of Communications in Expressive Arts and Journalism. A broadcaster for nine years, Maggie began volunteering in community radio in Wellington and worked in Melbourne at SYN Media, before joining Radioactive.FM. She became the first female Breakfast Host of Radioactive.FM to host the show for five days a week in 2018 and did that job for six years. In 2021 she began working for the public broadcaster hosting the RNZ Music Pocket Edition every week and continues to work as a journalist for the RNZ in Tamaki Makaurau. Maggie is a passionate advocate for New Zealand music and estimates she has interviewed more than 850 Aotearoa artists and bands through student and community radio. She aims to promote and give a platform for emerging and established artists and to share the good work of local musicians to whoever will listen.
